27th June

On this day in 2009, 38 Dave Polley delighted his fans north of the border when he won the Scottish Championship at Cowdenbeath.  Just four English drivers featured amongst an entry of 26 cars.  The early leader, 827 Graham Harding, was passed by 637 Alasdair Noble, but he crashed out into a pile of cars which included 194 Gordon Watson.  From being a distant second, Dave duly inherited the lead when the single file order was formed, and from there he was able to edge clear and record a straightforward victory, ahead of 854 Robbie Dawson and 641 Dennis Middler.  Dave remains the last English winner of the title.
