29th June

On this day in 1979, BriSCA F2 Stock Cars raced at Odsal Stadium, Bradford for the first time.  The first ever Benevolent Fund Trophy race was the feature of the event; and the grid included such star names as 667 Bill Batten and legendary BriSCA F1 ace 500 Stuart Smith.  The meeting attracted almost 100 drivers to Yorkshire for this Friday evening showdown.  Although 584 Phil Hayhurst led most of the Ben Fund race, 641 Ray Tyldesley edged past him in the closing stages to become the first driver to capture the glorious rosebowl.
