Ford Zetec Cylinder Head Valve Seats
BriSCA F2 has been asked to clarify the regulations regarding the machining of Ford Zetec engine valve seats.
With reference to regulations 233.12.01 and 233.13.06 in the "2023 Technical Car Specification Regulations" document, the only part of the valve seat that may be machined is the 45-degree angle for the purpose of valve seating, and no other part of the seat may be touched.
If you build your own engines then please check your cylinder head; if you are unsure then have someone qualified to check it for you. If you buy or are sponsored an engine then please speak to your engine builder to confirm any actions they may have taken, and that only the 45-degree angle of the seat has been touched if at all. You should always bear in mind that the responsibility for presenting a legal car lies with the driver at all times.
If you have any concerns in this area, while BriSCA F2 undertakes further research, please contact BriSCA F2 Engine Consultant, John Maxwell (details in the front of the regulations).
