The 2023 National Points Series Championship points have been collated and ratified after round five of the series, staged at Northampton Shaleway.
Former double World Champion #647 Chris Burgoyne returns to the top of the table with a six point lead over current World Champion #7 Gordon Moodie. Current Silver Roof holder #183 Charlie Guinchard retains third spot, and gains a point on Moodie, but has now slipped back to 9 points behind the leader. Former Silver Roof holder #560 Luke Wrench remains in fourth still only 15 points behind Burgoyne. #47 Greg McKenzie is the man on the move mid-table as he jumps two spots to sixth, just a solitary point behind #618 Ben Lockwood. The mid-table battle is even tighter than it was, now with only 12 points covering the 5th-8th places. There's still plenty to race for with a theoretical 150 points remaining for any driver, so at least the top 4 drivers in the table will be in with more than a mathematical chance of taking the title at the double-points finale to be staged at Odsal Stadium, Bradford.
Round 6 of the series, the final tarmac round, takes place this coming weekend at Skegness Raceway, on Sun 5th November, with a meeting start time of 12:30pm.
